Alyssa King’s CV

Artist Bio

Born in Toronto, Alyssa King’s passion for art was evident from an early age. As a teenager, she discovered the expressive power of spray paint and stencil work, drawing inspiration from Banksy’s bold visual storytelling. This early experimentation laid the foundation for her distinct style: bold textures and dynamic blends of colour and energy.

After studying graphic design, Alyssa built a career in advertising but soon felt the pull of a more hands-on creative path. Walking through Toronto’s vibrant streets, surrounded by towering murals and ever-changing graffiti, reignited her artistic drive. Returning to spray paint, she refined her technique, embracing its unpredictability and speed.

Drawn to both its environmental benefits and the challenge of limited resources, she began working with recycled cardboard, discovering its potential for rich, tactile textures. This approach became a defining element of her work, reinforcing her commitment to using found materials and maximizing the potential of existing resources.

Influenced by legendary artists such as Banksy, Warhol, Basquiat, and Rothko, Alyssa works across spray paint, acrylics, and found materials, layering textures and colours to create striking, energy-shifting pieces. She has participated in art residencies and exhibited at the Toronto Artist Project for five consecutive years. With bold contrasts, radiant colours, and dynamic compositions, she seeks to transform spaces, evoke emotion, and inspire others to chase their dreams and pursue their passions.
